MUSIC
Dr. Cassandra Eisenreich
Our featured speaker will be Dr. Cassandra Eisenreich of Slippery Rock University who will present Developing a Comprehensive Curriculum: General Music is a Foundation for Success. The session is intended to involve all music educators of every grade level and every focus.  It is also intended to take what Richard Saucedo spoke on at last year's In-Service: departments having time together to develop a plan for their school district.  Here is the link  to Dr. Eisenreich's bio:   http://www.sru.edu/academics/colleges-and-departments/cla/departments/music/faculty-and-staff/faculty-a-g

Mrs. Beth Schiemer
Beth Schiemer will lead a session on How Does an Educator Find Their Advocacy Voice?  The National Education Advocate for NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants), Mary Luersen, has given our organization's advocates the directive of being "perpetually positive advocates."   Beth has certainly been doing just that.  She has been advocating for three years in DC as well as eight years at the local level.  This session  will be very interactive and engaging for people to share their particular environments and joys/concerns.

Ryan Milstead
Both music and art teachers will gather at the end of the day for a special performance by opera singer Ryan Milstead.

ART
Pittsburgh Filmmakers / Pittsburgh Center For The Arts – Animation Workshop
Animation is a great way to keep your students thinking outside the box, while also encouraging them to stay active. In this short workshop, we’ll work with apps and tablets to create short, stop-motion animations. We'll discuss how animation can be used as a unique form of storytelling, while working with 'morphing' clay, paper puppets and small objects to tell short stories of our own. All necessary equipment is provided. Please feel free to bring your own device to explore the variety of free and low-cost apps we'll cover at the end of the workshop.

Mayco – Contrasting Textures Workshop

Texture can be used for many purposes within a work of art, ranging from adding depth to creating a focal point. In this workshop, we will explore the use of contrasting textures to create a focal point distinct from the background of their piece.

*The day is free to consortium member school districts and $15 for non-consortium member school districts.*
